Stratospheric-Climate Links with Emphasis on the Upper Troposphere and Lower Stratosphere (SCOUT-O3)

SCOUT-O3 was a European Commission Integrated Project with 15 million euros of EC funding. The project had 64 partner institutions and over 300 scientists involved from over 19 countries. The five year project commenced in May 2004 and ran until August 2009.

SCOUT-O3's aim was to provide predictions about the evolution of the coupled chemistry/climate system, with emphasis on ozone change in the lower stratosphere and the associated UV and climate impact, to provide vital information for society and policy use. The resulting research contributed significantly UNEP/WMO Scientific Assessments of Ozone Depletion in 2006 and 2010.
